Hi all,

Mike and I arrived in Whitehorse late Monday night. Since then we have been testing waxes, checking out the ski trails, sight seeing, and hanging out with giant furry northern animals. It has been a blast but we are very much looking forward to the team arriving tomorrow night.

For many of you the race season is over but that doesn't mean the ski season is!
Spring skiing often offers the best conditions to improve your skate skiing before the rollerski season begins.

Practices this Week
Wed (tonight) we have regularly scheduled practice at Nakkertok South
Sat practice will move to P9. This will make it easier for the athletes doing the Cookiebeiner.  Please arrive around 8:45 so that we'll be ready to ski when the Cookiebeiner starts at 9:00am.
Both days will be skate.
Coach Bryan (and others) will be on hand to lead you through the fun!

Back from Whistler in time to join Stefani's final Jackrabbit picnic on Sunday up at Nakkertok.  What a gorgeous day to be skiing.  I was lucky enough to also fit in a personal ski.  Was thrilled to see how much snow there still is here.  A few bare spots inspired me to shovel snow last night before the freeze-up.  I knew Marc was grooming overnight, so went back to check it out this morning.  And I have to say " the skiing at Nakkertok couldn't be better ".  This is on the upper trails, above the stadium up on the ridge and beyond.   The highlight though, are the trails north of the OWL Cabin, as there seems to be twice as much snow in this upper reach.  Marc groomed the Morral Loop wide enough to allow a skate track next to the classic - spring skiing at it's best.

Please let the Ottawa ski community know about this 'hidden gem'  - that they can still fit in a Nakkertok ski this season !

ps.....Dirk remains out west - in full grooming / organizing grooming mode for the Para Olympics.  His role is not an envious one.  The lack of sleep is the difficult part as he has to connect with both the TD's and his grooming team.  He's doing a great job, but will get his 'holiday' once he's home.

Cheers!

Make sure that the link you use to the site links to http://www.nakkertok.ca/en/welcome and NOT http://nakkertok.ca. Not sure if it'll solve all issues but it might solve some. This issue has been ongoing for a couple of years now and there are as many solutions as there are users it would seem.

Hi!

For some reason I can't seem to be able to use GMail right now.

Please note that the Cookie Biener race is only open to 9-13 year-old skiers in the Racing Rabbits and Racing Midgets programs. Although Chelsea Nordiq would have loved to welcome more people, there is simply not enough space to accommodate that many potential skiers. For more info, please consult: http://chelseanordiq.ca/cookie.html

If you are having difficulties logging in with Google Chrome and you use the Ad Thwart extension, try turning off the extension for our site as I think it is interfering with the login process. If that doesn't work, use Internet Explorer instead but it seems to have worked for me.

Working on the Olympic Course Crew - Stage 4

Another amazing day at the Whistler Olympic Park encountering a great variety of folks and taking in the Nordic ski festivaIMG_6802l sights and sounds in the middle of this beautiful forest. I have been in the Olympic cross-country ski bubble, aware of but not able to follow biathlon, ski jumping or Nordic combined, let alone the eleven other sports that have been bubbling away elsewhere these past sixteen days. The rain and wet snow has returned, lending a misty, mysterious air to the trails – as well as a real challenge for competitors and their wax technicians trying to find the right combo of grip and glide for the last two races: the all-important marathons of the women’s 30km and men’s 50km events.
